At PackCalc, we take your privacy seriously. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our website and tools.
Our Privacy Commitment
PackCalc is designed with privacy in mind. Some calculations run entirely in your browser, while connected tools send the inputs needed to PackCalc's calculation APIs. We don't sell your data, and we don't use your project information to train AI models.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and any profile information you choose to provide.
- Project Data: If you save projects to your account, we store the packaging specifications, calculations, and configurations you create.
- Communications: When you contact us, we collect the information you provide in your message.
Information Collected Automatically
- Usage Analytics: For all visitors, we process page views, page exits, web performance, and a bounded set of product events using memory-only PostHog analytics with standard technical context. With consent, we also enable persistent and broader product analytics, may associate activity with your PackCalc account, and may record sessions on non-share pages to understand and improve the user experience.
- Technical Information: We may collect browser type, device information, and IP address for security and troubleshooting purposes.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain our services
- Save and sync your projects across devices (if you have an account)
- Respond to your inquiries and support requests
- Improve our tools and develop new features
- Send important updates about our service (you can opt out of marketing emails)
Data Storage and Security
Your account data and saved projects are stored securely using industry-standard encryption. We use Supabase for authentication and data storage, which employs robust security measures including encryption at rest and in transit.
Calculation Processing
PackCalc uses both browser-side and server-side calculation engines. Browser-side operations stay on your device. Connected calculations send the required input fields to PackCalc APIs so the requested result can be generated, authenticated, and usage-limited.
- Inputs for browser-side operations are processed locally on your device
- Inputs for connected operations are sent only to the PackCalc APIs required to provide the feature
- Server-side tools may require an account or enforce usage limits
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Supabase: Authentication and database services
- Vercel: Website hosting and analytics
- PostHog: Memory-only traffic, performance, and bounded product measurement for all visitors; persistent, account-linked product analytics and session recording after consent
Each of these services has their own privacy policy governing how they handle data.
Cookies and Tracking
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. PostHog analytics cookies or durable local storage are enabled only after you accept analytics. Before consent or after declining, PostHog uses memory-only processing for page views, page exits, web performance, and an explicit set of bounded product events. Standard page, browser, device, referrer, session, and coarse geographic context may accompany those events, while deep account, project, saved-item, calculation-input, email, and raw-token data are excluded. First-party session storage may temporarily retain bounded first-touch campaign and referring-domain fields from your entry page. If you follow a public-result signup link, it may also hold a signed attribution marker containing only bounded share metadata so PackCalc can verify the referral after signup; the raw share token is not stored in analytics. Sensitive authentication and share URLs are redacted. Session recording is enabled only after consent and remains disabled on public-share navigation. You can accept, decline, or revoke analytics consent at any time.
Your Rights

Data Retention
We retain your account data and projects for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we're required to retain it for legal purposes.
Children's Privacy
PackCalc is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting a notice on our website or sending you an email.
